Munster have confirmed that No 8 James Coughlan has joined French Pro D2 side Pau.
Coughlan has signed a two-year contract with the club who are coached by Simon Mannix, the former Munster backs coach.
The 33-year-old, who played 139 times during an eight-year spell with Munster, was called up to the senior Irish national squad for the 2012 Six Nations but never earned a cap.
He becomes Pau's eighth recruit after France international centre Damien Traille (Biarritz), second rower Abdellatif Boutaty (Bayonne), scrum-half Samuel Marques (Albi), back Martin Prat (Auch), fly-half Brandon Fajardo (Auch), hooker Vincent Campo (Grenoble) and prop Giorgi Natsarashvili (Aurillac).
