Former Bath boss Mike Ford has been appointed backs coach at French club Toulon.

The Top 14 side's president Mourad Boudjellal confirmed Ford is replacing another ex-Bath head coach, Steve Meehan.

The 50-year-old, who left The Recreation Ground at the end of last season, will work alongside Toulon head coach Diego Dominguez.

"For the last two years, I've enjoyed watching Bath play a rugby I love, with the backs," Boudjellal said.

"I think he's the right person to replace Steve Meehan, who on Monday asked for a break, to take a different role within the club."

Toulon have lost three of their first five games this season but Dominguez remains "the boss", according to Boudjellal.

Several major media outlets reported over the summer that Boudjellal had held talks with former England head coach Stuart Lancaster.
