NBA: LA Lakers star Kobe Bryant to have surgery on Wednesday

Kobe Bryant is likely to miss the rest of the season, for a third consecutive NBA campaign.
Bryant suffered an injury to his right rotator cuff, last Wednesday, in a loss at New Orleans as he was going for a dunk in the third quarter.
The 36-year-old returned for the fourth quarter but he has since been advised to undergo surgery on the shoulder tear.
The LA Lakers announced on Monday that he would undergo surgery and say they will announce a timetable for Bryant's recovery after the procedure, this Wednesday, but coach Byron Scott believes Bryant "is probably not going to play" again this season.
Bryant missed the 2013 playoffs with a torn Achilles tendon, and he played just six games last term before breaking a bone near his left knee.
He will have to be replaced in the All-Star Game on February 15, despite being voted in as a starter for the Western Conference game, his 17th all-time selection.
