WBC champion Mikey Garcia wants to fight Jorge Linares ''as soon as possible'' in a unification bout to determine the best lightweight in the world.
The American was impressed by Linares as he retained the WBA title with a unanimous points decision victory over Anthony Crolla in Manchester at the weekend.
Garcia claimed the WBC belt with an explosive knockout of Dejan Zlaticanin in January and has targeted a potential summer bout with Linares.
"Congratulations to Jorge," Garcia told Showtime Sports.
"He looked great. He obviously performed better than on the first night. This time he out-boxed Crolla a lot easier, showed skill, showed flexibility, moving around the ring, combinations, dropped him with that uppercut.
"I think it would be a great, great fight with me. I look forward to that. He didn't get cut. I don't see him injured, so I think we can get to work and maybe fight this summer."
Linares appears to have welcomed a future fight with Garcia after admitting he wants to fight the 'best opponents' in his division.
"Now I want to go back to the United States and get the biggest fights, the best fights against the biggest opponents," Linares told Sky Sports.
"I'm ready to fight everybody."
