Carson Jones would return to Britain for a battle with Sam Eggington and does not see "anything special" in the new European welterweight champion.

'The Savage' claimed the European belt with an explosive knockout of Ceferino Rodriguez in Birmingham last Saturday.

But Jones insists he is not overly impressed with Eggington, despite his previous stoppage win over former world champion Paulie Malignaggi.

Eggington claims European title after blasting Ceferino Rodriguez through the ropes.

"Who I really want over there is Sam Eggington and I'm pretty sure everyone wants to see that," said Jones, who stopped Ben Hall on his last trip to Britain in November.

He's a young fighter, he's gung ho, but I don't see anything special.

"It's up to Sam and Eddie [Hearn] on that one. He's a young fighter, he's gung ho, but I don't see anything special.

"I saw the Paulie Malignaggi fight, that was a good win of course, but let's look at it real - Paulie's prime was six years ago. It's a good name to have on his record, but it's not all that impressive.

"He got hurt by Malignaggi in that fight and Malignaggi doesn't hurt anybody."

Jones, who is scheduled to fight next month, believes a showdown with the Stourbridge man would not reach the final bell.

"It's guaranteed a knockout for sure," said the 30-year-old. "I would take it as his very next fight. I'm ready right now."
