Ahead of Mike Perez's comeback at cruiserweight, we look back at when the Cuban blasted his way to the Prizefighter trophy on Ringside Rewind.

Little was known about the Cork-based heavyweight when he entered the Prizefighter international tournament in May 2011, but he quickly strengthened his reputation and bank balance at York Hall in Bethnal Green.

After a points win in his opening fight, Perez pounded Frenchman Gregory Tony to a halt inside the opening round of the semi-final, then toppled towering American Tye Fields within a few minutes of the final.

Perez's promising career would be derailed after a brutal points victory over Magomed Abdusalamov, which left the Russian with life-changing injuries.

Defeats against Bryant Jennings and Alexander Povetkin ended Perez's hopes of a world heavyweight title fight, but he will start a new chapter at cruiserweight on the undercard of Lee Haskins' IBF bantamweight title defence against Ryan Burnett in Belfast.
