Quigg vs Valdez: Carl Frampton will have Scott Quigg rematch if he wins WBO featherweight title

Scott Quigg insists Oscar Valdez will regret picking him as a voluntary defence for his WBO featherweight title.

Scott Quigg could get his long-awaited rematch with Carl Frampton if he wins a world title this weekend.

The Bury man takes on WBO featherweight champion Oscar Valdez in Carson, California, in the early hours of Sunday morning, live on Sky Sports.

Quigg is looking to win world titles at two different weights and Frampton, who has done the same, admits he is open to a return if a belt is on the line.

"If he's a world champion he's got something that I want, that's a world title," Frampton told the Manchester Evening News.

"It's strange how this game happens. I've been saying anytime Quigg's name is brought up that I don't want anything to do with him unless he wins a world title.

"If he wins a world title then we can do a rematch. Of course."

Quigg lost their unification fight back in March 2016 on points, with Frampton walking away with both the WBA 'World' and IBF titles at super-bantamweight.

'The Jackal' moved straight up to featherweight and took the WBA 'Super' from Leo Santa Cruz, only to lose it in the immediate return.

Quigg also moved up and switched trainers, and under the guidance of Freddie Roach faces tough Mexican Valdez, who he has sparred with before.

"They know that they've made a mistake picking me as a voluntary," he told Sky Sports.

"I respect him as a fighter, I respect his coach - they are good people. We've helped each other prepare in the past for a fight. We've sparred each other on six occasions, so I've been around the gym with them.

"They are good people. He wants to be the best and you've got to fight the best. Credit to them, they've picked a tough challenge but I'm going to makes sure they regret it."
