David Allen compared himself to Homer Simpson as he joked about the game-plan for his battle with Lucas Browne.

The Doncaster man was in a light-hearted mood ahead of Saturday's fight with Browne at The O2, live on Sky Sports, as he played down the punch power of the Australian, who has stopped 24 of his 28 opponents.

Allen's preparations have been overseen by former world champion Darren Barker, but 'White Rhino' claimed he could shrug off Browne's best punches in a similar manner to the cartoon character from The Simpsons.

"I'm going to stick to the Darren game-plan, for a little while, we'll see how it goes," said Allen.

"If it's working, fantastic, we'll stick to it, if not, I'm going to 'Homer Simpson' him.

If I feel his power and it's like, that hurt a bit, we'll stick to the game-plan.

"The game-plan is there. Game plan B is punch him in the face, and let him punch me in the face, and see who is the last man standing.

"We're going to try a new look, and if that doesn't work, we're going to get at it. I want to feel his power, if I feel his power and it's like, that hurt a bit, we'll stick to the game-plan.

Browne wants to test himself at the top level again after winning the WBA 'regular' belt in 2016, although he respects the threat posed by Allen this weekend.

"For me I just want to stay in nice, good competitive fights," said Browne.

"Obviously I want to make money, and leave a legacy, but I want to be in good fights, and I think this has all the makings to be a great fight.
