'Canelo' Alvarez is confident that he can handle anything that Daniel Jacobs throws at him this weekend in their middleweight unification clash

Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez is determined to secure his place in boxing folklore as one of the greatest fighters to every lace up a pair of gloves.

Canelo will put his WBA 'Super' and WBC middleweight titles on the line against IBF champion Daniel Jacobs in the early hours of Sunday morning, live on Sky Sports.

"It's very important but it's very motivating as well. This is the first step, another step in the objective we have this year of winning all four titles," Canelo told Sky Sports.

Jacobs, who has lost just twice in 37 fights, will have a height and reach advantage, but Canelo believes his greater experience in the ring will be key to success.

"He's a very dangerous fighter, he knows how to adapt, change it up, goes from southpaw to orthodox.

Alvarez and Jacobs go head to head just a few days before their middleweight unification clash

"He's a complete fighter which makes him very dangerous but I'm a fighter that has a lot of experience and knows how to adapt and we're ready for that.

"I want to write my own history and without a doubt, I want to go down as one of the greatest in boxing."
