Tommy Coyle will take on Chris Algieri on the undercard of Anthony Joshua-Andy Ruiz Jr on June 1, live on Sky Sports Box Office.

Joshua is due to defend his WBA 'Super', IBF and WBO titles against Californian-based Mexican Ruiz Jr at Madison Square Garden.

Coyle will now also feature at the same famous Manhattan venue when he takes on former world champion Algieri for the WBO international super-lightweight belt.

'Boom Boom' Coyle (25-4-0 12 KOs) will be having his second fight on the trot in the US after he outpointed Ryan Kielczweski over 10 rounds last time out at the TD Garden in Boston in October.

"I'm absolutely delighted to be boxing on such a huge event at Madison Square Garden," said former Commonwealth lightweight champion Coyle.

"It's a dream come true. Fighting in America is one thing, but fighting at the Mecca of boxing against a former world champion in Chris Algieri is just unbelievable and I'm so up for it.

"I'm expecting a Gatti vs Ward style fight, I really am."

Algieri (23-3 8 KOs) returned from two-and-a-half years out of the ring in November and defeated Daniel Gonzalez to claim the WBO strap in January.

"I'm very excited to be fighting once again at the Mecca of boxing, Madison Square Garden on June 1," said former WBO super-lightweight champion Algieri.

"I know that Tommy Coyle is another tough test for me and that a victory will bring me one step closer to another world title fight."
