Sheffield boxer Jerome Wilson remains in a critical but stable condition in hospital after being knocked out in a fight on Friday night.
The 29-year-old was stopped in the sixth round of a welterweight bout with Cameroonian Serge Ambomo at Ice Sheffield Arena.
Wilson was then carried from the ring on a stretcher and subsequently underwent what his promoter David Coldwell described as a "life-saving brain operation".
Coldwell confirmed on Sunday night that Wilson remains in a medically induced coma.
A statement from Coldwell Boxing read: "Jerome Wilson unfortunately suffered a severe head injury during his fight in Sheffield [on Friday night].
"He is receiving the best possible care and while he receives treatment Jerome's family request privacy at this difficult time.
"Further updates will be released when Jerome's family feel it is appropriate to do so, therefore no further comment will be made until directed by Jerome's family."
Wilson started his career in 2010 and had a record of eight wins and two defeats going into the fight on Friday.
He had also fought Ambomo in his previous fight in May, when he had lost a six-round points decision at the same venue.
