Chris Eubank says he gained mental edge over Dave Coldwell after press conference row

Chris Eubank Snr says he showed 'who the daddy is' by championing his ring achievements in the press conference row before his son's fight with Tom Doran.

Eubank had sparked heated scenes when he questioned the boxing abilities of Doran's manager Dave Coldwell, who branded the 49-year-old as 'disrespectful', while Conor Benn also reacted angrily to comments regarding his father.

But the former world champion insists he was purely demonstrating the superior guidance he has been able to offer his son ahead of Saturday's British title fight with Doran at The O2, live on Sky Sports Box Office.

Eubank told Sky Sports: "The point is that junior has been brought up by a man who has been submerged, paid all the prices to be paid in boxing, and I have the accolades.

"I won the world championship 19 times, so I was only actually pointing out that in terms of what he would have been able to pass over to your fighter in Tom. You can't compare to what I've passed over to mine.

There are two things at play here. One is to actually to let Tom know who the daddy is. It's important that they know.

"That puts us in the premier position. There are two things at play here. One is actually to let Tom know who the daddy is. It's important that they know.

"In terms of Dave, it's nothing to do with you, it's about the fighters and my job is to make sure my fighter has edge. I want him to hear my language.

"Any time in the future when Dave has a fighter coming up against one of mine, I want to have that edge, which I will always have from now on. All these trainers who are really good, you didn't do what I did."

All of the fallout from an explosive final undercard press conference

Eubank's long-term trainer Ronnie Davies did not compete above domestic level during his ring career, but the past WBO champion suggested his experienced corner man only offers advice sparingly.

"I want to tell you Ronnie Davies in my view has been one of the best trainers ever, because he left me alone," said Eubank.

"Same with junior, he's leaving him alone. What he does, he sits on the back of stallions, and as much as we buck, he's stayed on the stallion.

"There have been other trainers who have come, who have tried to train junior. They are actually resting in some pasture somewhere with bruised ribs.

"They got bucked off. You understand? It's tough to do what we do. Building fighters is very difficult."
