Oman squad for 2016 ICC World Twenty20

Sultan Ahmed (captain)

- Represented Karachi Whites in Pakistan first-class cricket in the 1999-2000 season

- He has played for Oman since the ICC Trophy in 2005

- Played all seven of Oman's qualifying matches for ICC WT20 last year, scoring 62 runs and only being dismissed twice

Aamir Kaleem

- A very talented all-round cricketer and one of the best fielders and athletes in the squad

- Ever-present in the qualifying tournament, in which he scored 95 runs and took three wickets

Sufyan Mehmood

- Born in Oman, he made his T20I debut against Hong Kong at Abu Dhabi in November 2015

- A good medium-pace bowler, capable batsman, and also among the best fielders in the Oman squad

Zeeshan Maqsood

- Played all seven matches in the qualifying tournament, scoring 173 runs at an average of 28.83

- His highest score was 86 not out from just 41 balls against Canada

Syed Amir Ali

- Represented Karachi Whites and Karachi Blues in first-class cricket in Pakistan in the 1998/99 and 1999/2000 seasons

- Played six matches in the qualifying tournament, scoring 56 runs and taking two wickets

Jatinder Singh

- At the 2015 Asian Cricket Council Twenty20 Cup, he was adjudged 'Best Batsman' after innings of 45 against Saudi Arabia, 62 against Malaysia, and 70 against Singapore

- Subsequently topped Oman's run-scorers in the qualifying tournament with 213 runs at an average of 35.5, highlights including an unbeaten 65 against the Netherlands and 40 against Afghanistan

Rajesh Ranpura

- A 'thinking' bowler who makes good use of slower balls and yorkers, and who also strikes the ball cleanly with the bat

- Played all seven qualifying matches, taking ten wickets and conceding just 6.64 runs per over, with best performances of 2-17 against Kenya and 3-30 against the Netherlands

Ajay Lalcheta

- Often asked to open the bowling with his left-arm spin

- Played four matches in the 2015 qualifying tournament, taking four wickets with a best performance of 2-26 against Namibia at Dublin

- Works in the oil industry and plays his cricket for Al Turki NMC

Zeeshan Siddiqui

- Made his debut for Oman aged 28, at the ACC Twenty20 Cup in October 2007, taking twelve wickets in the tournament

- Played five matches in the qualifying tournament scoring 114 runs, the highlight being an unbeaten innings of 51 against Namibia which sealed qualification

Munis Ansari

- Ever-present in the 2015 qualifying tournament in which he took 12 wickets to be his side's leading wicket-taker

- A fine bowler of yorkers with his slingy action, he found himself on three hat-tricks during the tournament

- Highlights were figures of 4-15 against the Netherlands and 3-23 against Namibia in the crucial match which enabled Oman to qualify

- Works as a cheese salesman in Muscat

Mehran Khan

- A powerful ball-striker and reliable medium-pace seamer

- Played all seven matches in the qualifying tournament, scoring 51 runs and taking four wickets - all four wickets coming against Afghanistan

Vaibhav Shridhar Wategaonkar

- Awaiting his debut in T20I cricket

- Has struggled against the seaming ball, but will be happier on subcontinental pitches

Adnan Ilyas

- In international youth cricket, he made scores of 199 not out against Malaysia U17 and 168 not out against Hong Kong U19

- A consistent scorer in his six matches in the UAE in November 2015, with 163 runs and only being dismissed for less than 20 on one occasion

Aaqib Ilyas Sulehri

- Made his T20I debut against Hong Kong at Abu Dhabi in November 2015

- After scores of 12 and 16 in his first two matches, had to retire hurt first ball in his third T20I against Hong Kong

BILAL KHAN

- Made his T20I debut against Hong Kong at Abu Dhabi in November 2015, taking 3-29

- His figures of 4-20 against Hong Kong in just his third match are the best for Oman in this form of the game

- Played first class cricket in Pakistan for Peshawar from 2007 to 2009
