Mohammed Shami took 5-28 as India ripped through South Africa's batting line-up to seal a 63-run victory on day four of the third and final Test at the Wanderers.
Chasing 241 for victory, on a wicket with pace and bounce, South Africa appeared to be strolling home as they reached 124-1, only to lose their last nine wickets for just 53 runs - thanks largely to some superb bowling by Shami.
Dean Elgar (86 not out) and Hashim Amla (52) had put South Africa in a strong position with a 119-run second wicket stand.
However, South Africa lost their way following Amla's dismissal 20 minutes before tea, with four batsmen out for ducks.
The main wicket-taker was Shami (5-28), with the other five shared by Ishant Sharma (2-31), Jasprit Bumrah (2-57) and Bhuvneshwar Kumar (1-39).
South African secured the series 2-1, thanks to victories in Cape Town and Pretoria.
