Ryan Sidebottom took 6-35 as Warwickshire enjoyed a dominant opening day of their Specsavers County Championship Division Two clash against Northamptonshire at Wantage Road.
The Australian's maiden five-wicket haul in just his ninth first-class game helped skittle the hosts, who won the toss, for 147.
Sidebottom ripped through the lower order to provide the firepower Warwickshire thought they had lost when dangerman Olly Stone went down injured in the warm-up.
In reply, Warwickshire briefly wobbled to 28-3 with Ian Bell held at second slip for a three-ball duck and Jonathan Trott lbw for four before Sam Hain (51) and Will Rhodes (39) took their side to 113-3 with an unbroken stand of 85.
Aiden Markram endured a nightmare start to his Durham career as he collected a pair on day one of his side's clash against Kent as 21 wickets fell at the Emirates Riverside.
Markram and his team-mates were skittled out for 91 in one session in the first innings - Matt Henry claiming 5-28 - but bounced back to bowl Kent out for 169 as Nathan Rimmington and James Weighell took three wickets apiece.
However, with six overs left in the final session, the South African lost his wicket for a duck for the second time.
Marchant de Lange recorded his best first-class bowling figures for Glamorgan as the visitors made a fine start to their game with Gloucestershire.
The 27-year-old South African took 5-62 as Gloucestershire were bowled out for 236 after being 86-5 - Ryan Higgins (43), Kieran Noema-Barnett (46) and Daniel Worrall (36) providing some vital middle-order runs.
Glamorgan reached 26-0 at stumps - 210 runs in arrears - after openers Nicholas Selman (17no) and Jack Murphy (seven not out) saw out a tricky eight-over spell.
Ben Raine (3-58) took two wickets in two balls in the final session to wrest the initiative back for Leicestershire at the end of an absorbing first day against Sussex at the Fischer County Ground.
Raine produced fine seaming deliveries to bowl first Luke Wright (88), who had looked set for a century, and then Ollie Robinson after Sussex had recovered strongly from being 52-3 at lunch - the visitors reaching stumps on 254-7.
Pakistan seamer Mohammad Abbas (2-42), making his debut for the Foxes, bowled an outstanding opening spell, conceding just four runs from seven overs and taking one of the three wickets to fall during the opening session after Sussex skipper Ben Brown had won the toss and chosen to bat.
Captain Ben Brown struck 64 off 133 balls before becoming Abbas' second wicket.
South African fast bowler Hardus Viljoen (60no off 71 balls) rescued Derbyshire with the bat on a keenly-contested opening day against Middlesex.
Viljoen scored his first half-century for the county as the home side recovered from 167-7 to 265 and then reduced Middlesex to 45-3 at the close, finishing the day with 1-19 off 10 overs.
Ravi Rampaul and Duanne Olivier claimed their maiden wickets for Derbyshire as Max Holden and Robbie White went cheaply, before Viljoen removed Hilton Cartwright.
