Australia all-rounder Glenn Maxwell has announced his retirement from international cricket but will continue to play T20 for Melbourne Stars in the Big Bash League.
The 38-year-old's final appearance for his country came against Oman in the T20 World Cup earlier this year, when he recorded figures of 2-13 from three overs with his off-spin and was not required to bat.
Maxwell scored five T20 international hundreds, a record he shares with India's Rohit Sharma, while he is one of only five Australian men, alongside Shane Watson, David Warner, Josh Inglis and Mitchell Marsh, to score a ton in all three international formats.

Speaking on the Final Word podcast, Maxwell said: "I suppose [I had] a small hope that I might have been able to potentially get a send-off game at the MCG. But I can completely understand the direction they're going with this [T20] squad.
"There's going to be a lot of change over the next 12 to 24 months with the Olympics coming up [in 2028], and they've got to make sure they get their eyeballs on a few young guys coming through, making sure they're getting exposed to international pressure."
Maxwell - who said he had considered trying to get ready for Australia's T20 series at home to England in late November, which includes a match in Melbourne - quit one-day international cricket in June of last year, the format in which he put in his most memorable performance during the 2023 World Cup.
He plundered a match-winning 201 not out from 128 balls against Afghanistan while battling injury as Australia recovered from 91-7 to reach a target of 292.
Maxwell's 128-ball double hundred was the-then second-fastest in all ODIs, behind India star Ishan Kishan's 126-ball effort versus Bangladesh in 2022, but is now fourth.
England white-ball captain Harry Brook smoked the quickest ODI double ton from 114 balls against Sri Lanka in October, after India's Shubman Gill had done so from 117 deliveries versus West Indies less than a month earlier.
Maxwell's heroics against Afghanistan three years ago came in a tournament in which he also hit the fastest 50-over World Cup century, from 40 deliveries against the Netherlands.
The right-hander won the 2023 and 2015 50-over World Cups with Australia, while he also hit the winning runs as his nation claimed the T20 World Cup title in 2021.
Across 286 international matches (149 ODIs, 130 T20Is and seven Tests), Maxwell scored over 7,000 runs and took 136 wickets.
