The West Indies were struggling as they closed the second day of the final Test chasing Australia's first innings total of 399 at Sabina Park in Jamaica.

The hosts were 143-8 at stumps in reply after Australia's Steve Smith had earlier fallen just one run short of a first Test double century.

Jerome Taylor took six wickets for 47 runs for the West Indies but only Jermaine Blackwood among his team-mates could offer much when it was their turn to bat, scoring 51 before being caught.

Australia won the first match by nine wickets last week.
