Former England bowler Isa Guha has become the first woman to join the board of the Professional Cricketers' Association [PCA].
The PCA is the representative body for first-class cricketers in England and Wales and it is hoped Guha's appointment will strengthen the Association's links with England's centrally-contracted female players as well as the women's game as a whole.
Guha, who won the Women's World Cup and World Twenty20 tournaments in 2009, is currently in India forming part of Sky Sports' coverage of the ongoing Indian Premier League.
She became the first woman of Asian origin to represent England when she made her debut in 2002 and played 113 international matches across all formats, taking 138 wickets.
On her appointment as a non-executive director, Guha said: "I am delighted to be joining the PCA at an exciting time for the game here in England for our men and women at both domestic and international levels.
"I look forward to working with the team at the PCA, and with all the many past and present players, as the country prepares for a number of major events - starting with the ICC Champions Trophy and the Women's World Cup this summer."
PCA chief executive David Leatherdale added: "Isa has a vast knowledge of the game from both a men's and women's perspective, firstly through her time as a player and more recently from her work in the media on a global stage."
