Chris Woakes has been ruled out of the rest of the Champions Trophy with a side strain

Chris Woakes has been ruled out of the rest of the Champions Trophy with a left side strain.

The Warwickshire all-rounder sustained the injury in only his second over against Bangladesh on Thursday and played no further part in England's eight-wicket win at the Kia Oval.

Woakes' loss is a blow to England's hopes of winning the tournament as he had emerged as one of the team's most reliable one-day bowlers over the last 12 months.
