Pakistan's Imam-ul-Haq was forced to retire hurt after being hit on the elbow by Mark Wood in the fourth ODI at Trent Bridge.
Opener Imam collapsed to the floor in intense discomfort after being hit on the back elbow by fast Wood.
After receiving treatment beside the pitch at Trent Bridge, the 23-year-old was accompanied off the field of play - retired hurt for three with his team on 9-0.
Imam subsequently went to hospital to have an X-ray on his arm only to shortly return to the ground, where he was spotted on the balcony with his arm encased in an ice pack.
His fitness will be closely monitored ahead of the ICC Cricket World Cup, which begins on May 30 - not least because Imam had scored a majestic 151 in the third ODI, after chalking up 42 not out and 35 in the opening two matches of the series.
