Iftikhar comes in for Shoaib for the forthcoming tournament in England

Rao Iftikhar has replaced fellow paceman Shoaib Akhtar in Pakistan's squad for the ICC World Twenty20 tournament in England on June 5. Shoaib, 33, had originally been named in Pakistan's 15-man squad before being treated for a genital infection. The Pakistan Cricket Board subsequently applied for approval to alter their squad and the International Cricket Council has agreed Shoaib has been ruled out of the entire ICC World Twenty20 as a result after the ICC also said that once a player is replaced he is ineligible to return to the squad. Pakistan has been drawn in Group B alongside the Netherlands and hosts England for the Twenty20 competition, with the top two teams from each of the four groups advancing to the Super Eight stage. England is the first team up for the 2007 runners-up, with their tie at the Oval scheduled for the evening of Sunday, June 7.
