Shane Warne says Mumbai Indians are the team to watch in the 2015 Indian Premier League.

The former Australia spinner won the IPL as captain of the Rajasthan Royals in 2008 will watch this year’s edition of the Twenty20 league as part of the Sky Sports commentary team.

The season opened with the Kolkata Knight Riders hosting the Mumbai Indians in the first of what he describes as a “first class” period of cricket.

“It’s an amazing atmosphere, it’s a real atmosphere, a real buzz,” Warne told Sky Sports News HQ

“The cricket is outstanding to watch with the best players from around the world, so really it’s just a fantastic tournament.”

Warne is looking towards former Australia captain Ricky Ponting’s leadership to give the Mumbai side a big chance in the tournament.

“They’re fielding will really improve – he was an excellent, outstanding fielder. So I think watch Mumbai’s fielding – that will really be the key.”
