England captain Alastair Cook will make his first appearance of the summer for the Essex Eagles when he plays in Friday's NatWest T20 Blast match against Surrey at the Kia Oval.
Cook last represented his county in the shortest form of the game more than 12 months ago.
The 30-year-old is also due to play for Essex in their next LV= County Championship home match, against Derbyshire in Chelmsford starting on June 14, and in Bristol against Gloucestershire the following week.
Essex head coach Paul Grayson said: "He's a class player, as everyone knows, and his presence will be a boost for us.
"Having Cooky around will boost everyone in our dressing room, he loves playing for Essex and we love having him around.
"We haven't made a good start to our campaign, we know that but we are determined to get things right. At this stage, we just want to get a win from somewhere."
