Nottinghamshire all-rounder Will Gidman has joined Kent on a month's loan.

The 31-year-old joins as cover for the injured Fabian Cowdrey and Calum Haggett and will be available for six games - two in the Championship and four in the Royal London One-Day Cup.

A medium-pace bowler and left-handed batsman, Gidman made his name at Gloucestershire before leaving for Trent Bridge, where he has struggled to hold down a regular place.

Kent captain Sam Northeast told the county's website: "Will was a serious talent during his time at Gloucestershire. He doesn't have blistering pace but is very skilful with the ball and gets a few runs.

"With Fabian Cowdrey and Calum Haggett out, he will bolster our resources and I'm sure he will do a great job going forward.

"He is hungry to play and we hope he will come into the side and buy into what the team is all about as our two overseas players have."
