Will Rhodes will join Essex on loan from Yorkshire for the remainder of the County Championship season.

The 21-year-old all rounder joined the club as a junior in 2013 and has since progressed through the ranks at the White Rose.

However, Rhodes will now head to Chelmsford to link up with his new team-mates ahead of their match against Derbyshire at the 3aaa ground on Saturday.

"We feel, as does Will, that this is a great opportunity to play first-team cricket and to improve as a player," said director of cricket Martyn Moxon.

"It will be a great experience for him and hopefully will help to develop him further as an all-round cricketer."
