Yorkshire have announced Richard Hutton, son of former England captain Sir Len Hutton, as their new president.

The 74-year-old, who played in five Tests for England as an all-rounder, succeeds John Hampshire who died last month at the age of 76.

Hutton played 281 First-Class matches, scoring 7,561 runs and taking 625 wickets at an average of 24.01.

He made a top international score of 81 against India in the summer of 1971 and took nine wickets at an average of 28.55.

Hutton said: "I'm very pleased to have been voted in and I look forward to the season very much. If (Yorkshire) continue in the same vein as the last three seasons, they will do well.

"I hope that they will play as attractively and aggressively as they've done in the past because, if they continue to do that, they will give a lot of pleasure to a lot of people and a lot of people will come to watch them."
