Mark Wood has had to withdraw from the England Lions one-day series against Sri Lanka A next month.

The Durham fast-bowler underwent surgery on his left ankle during autumn and, although his rehabilitation is progressing well, he is still not ready to make his return to competitive cricket.

Wood recently returned from the ECB's warm-weather training camp at Potchefstroom, South Africa, and the national selectors have decided he would benefit from spending three more weeks' training at home.

He will then travel to Dubai to compete in the North-South Series, with the aim of reaching full fitness ahead of the domestic season in April.
