Hampshire seamer Chris Wood has been ruled out for the rest of the season with a knee injury.

The 25-year-old suffered the problem while bowling during Hampshire's Specsavers County Championship clash with Middlesex at the Ageas Bowl earlier this month.

With the injury worse than originally feared, Wood underwent surgery last week and will not play again during the 2016 campaign.

The news is a huge blow on the eve of the NatWest Blast T20 season - the left-armer is one of Hampshire's best death bowlers.

Wood's injury is the latest in a long line Hampshire have suffered this season.
