Essex have announced all-rounders Ashar Zaidi and Callum Taylor are set to depart the club.

Zaidi joined Essex ahead of the 2016 season and played a role in their promotion to Division One of the County Championship that year, as well as their title triumph 12 months later.

The 37-year-old has also been a useful spin option and lower-order batsman in the limited-overs formats but will leave the club at the end of his contract.

Head coach Anthony McGrath said: "Ashar has been an important part of the squad during his time with us with both bat and ball, especially in white-ball cricket.

"His ability to strike the ball long and hard was always special to watch and excited the crowd at Chelmsford on a number of occasions."
