Former England bowler Ajmal Shahzad has joined Leicestershire after impressing while on trial with the county.
Shahzad was released by Sussex last month but has now secured a deal with their Specsavers County Championship Division Two rivals.
Leicestershire are in the midst of an injury crisis among their bowling attack - Ben Raine, Zak Chappell and Richard Jones were already missing and they have now been joined by Clint McKay and Matthew Pillans.
Because of that, Shahzad was drafted straight in for his debut in Sunday's clash with Durham at the Fischer County Ground.
Shahzad, 32, has represented Yorkshire, Lancashire, Nottinghamshire and Sussex as well as playing for England in all three formats - one Test, 11 one-day internationals and three T20 internationals.
His only Test appearance came in 2010 against Bangladesh when he took 4-63 across two innings.
Head coach Pierre de Bruyn said: "Ajmal has impressed us this week and given we now have so many injuries to our seam department, his experience and quality means that he is a useful signing for us."
