All-rounder to stand in while his fellow countryman is missing

Glamorgan have signed Australian all-rounder Moises Henriques as cover for compatriot Marcus North at the start of the season. North is not due to join up with the Welsh county for the opening weeks of the new campaign as he is attending the birth of his second child. Henriques, who has made three limited-overs appearances for Australia, has been drafted in to take North's place during a hectic start to the summer. "I am delighted that Moises will be joining us for the first part of the season," said Glamorgan's head of elite performance Matthew Mott. "The 2012 fixtures will see us play nearly a third of our Championship matches within the first five weeks of the season. "Given the probability of bowler friendly conditions, we have opted for an all-rounder, which will provide us with some additional options as we look to start the season in a positive manner." Henriques, who was born in Portugal, worked under Mott at New South Wales and said: "I am thrilled to be joining Glamorgan - they are an ambitious county and I look forward to working with Matthew Mott again. "The first few weeks of the season will be hugely important for all counties and I hope to make a positive contribution for Glamorgan as they look to start the season on the front foot."
