Australia will give all-rounder Marcus Stoinis his debut in Monday’s Twenty20 clash with England in Cardiff.

Leg spinner Cameron Boyce, who has taken six wickets in four T20s, is also named in the starting line-up.

Shane Watson will open in place of captain Aaron Finch who is out injured, with Steve Smith set to skipper the side in his absence.

Fast bowler Pat Cummins, who was close to a Test recall, is given the chance to lead the attack along with Mitchell Starc.

There is no place for all-rounder Cameron White.

Shane Watson, David Warner, Mitchell Marsh and Mitchell Starc are those held over from the Ashes campaign, but captain Smith is interested to see how the new arrivals fare.

"I played in the Under-19 World Cup with Marcus Stoinis in Malaysia in 2008 and he's certainly come a long way," he said.

"He's improved every year. He's thrown up good performances first of all at Western Australia and then moving over to Victoria was a big move for him.

"He's put the numbers on the board there and thoroughly deserves an opportunity here.

"There's a World T20 coming up in not too long, so we need these guys to play as much as they can."

The two teams have met 13 times in T20s with Australia winning seven, England four and two no results.
