Big middle + big edges has certainly meant big runs for England's Jonathan Trott during the Ashes series. The England No.3 is one of a number of high-profile names who has put his trust in another fantastic cricket bat to come out of the Gunn & Moore factory. Not only does the GM Icon DXM look a million dollars, it plays like a dream. So to the technical part... Made from the very best unbleached grade one English willow, the limited edition DXM is hand-selected dependant on a specific weight and grain structure. Due to the undisputed quality of the willow, the bat has been awarded a 5-star rating, and believe me, any G&M bat held in this regard must be pretty special! The bat is finished with a treble spring handle which is fitted in an attempt to enhance the flex and control of the bat. This feature was extremely evident when the bat went under the 'acid test' at Headingley Indoor Centre. One of very few gripes I have with modern cricket bats is how quickly the toe scuffs up. So, when I noticed the 'Toetek' feature at the bottom of the bat you can only imagine my joy. The Toetek protects the base of the bat and prevents any moisture seeping through and scuffing up the willow. Now, the middle is higher than usual on the DXM and this takes a little getting used to. However, if you love cutting the ball and whipping it off your hips (a la Trott) then this is definitely the bat for you. As someone born in South Africa, Trott was obviously vouching for some short stuff Down Under and with the DXM in his hands he's dealt with it admirably. Don't be fooled by the light, effortless pick up of the DXM either, this is one powerful bat. When you catch the ball off the middle there is no point running, there is only one place the ball is heading - the boundary! So, in summary, Trott's weapon of choice will take some beating Down Under. Anyone who visited the bookmakers to put money on him leading the run charts looks like they could be well rewarded.

The GM+ range benefits from GM+ edges, a huge profile and sweetspot with a GM Powerarc Blade. All of this makes GM+ bats ideal for the cricketer who loves power in their game. The Icon profile bats are an extremely lightweight design gained from the highly technical and unique DXM process. Although lightweight, the bat has massive power edges an impressive swell position. This aids performance and allows for the full range of strokeplay to be executed to the highest possible standard levels. The super concave profile and toe has been treated with GM Driguard which dramatically reduces moisture damage by reducing the absorption of water.
