Sri Lanka frustrated by day three washout in Northampton

No play was possible on the third day of four in Sri Lanka's tour match against Northamptonshire due to a sodden outfield at Wantage Road.

Play was called off for the day shortly after 12.10pm, with no prospect of the teams taking to the field.

The hosts announced on Twitter that "those who purchased tickets for today's (play) will gain free entry tomorrow".

Should the match resume on Sunday, it will do so with the county side 146-5 in response to the tourists' imposing 558-8 declared, which was built around centuries from Kaushal Silva and acting captain Lahiru Thirimanne.
