Mohammad Hafeez will be replaced by Mohammad Irfan in Pakistan's squad for the remainder of their tour of England.
Opening batsman Hafeez, who is currently banned from bowling in international cricket, was hurt before Saturday's second ODI at Lord's, which England won by four wickets to take a 2-0 series lead.
Hafeez will miss the remaining three matches, which take place over the next eight days, and the sole Twenty20 international at Old Trafford on September 7.
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has asked for Hafeez, who has struggled for runs this summer, to be replaced by giant fast bowler Irfan.
Irfan, who stands 7ft 1in, is expected to join the party in time for the third ODI at Trent Bridge on Tuesday. His last ODI for Pakistan came in January against New Zealand.
A PCB statement read: "Hafeez complained about the pain in his left calf. He had a minor strain in his left calf which ruled him out of the [rest of the] limited-overs part of the series against England.
"The team management has decided that there was no point in retaining him with the team, though he will be staying in England for intensive rehabilitation to regain his physical form.
"The team management requested the selection committee to replace Mohammad Hafeez with Mohammad Irfan and the selection committee has approved this replacement."
