Brook praises 'exceptional' England effort in victory

Player of the match, Ben Duckett:

"You just want to score runs and put us in a good position. To get over the line is great - we've played some great cricket, we just haven't been getting the right side of the results.

"The pitches are really good to bat on here - you've seen the amount of runs in the series. My previous tours to Pakistan have probably helped, but it's a great place to bat. Tom Banton has been great coming in at the top of the order and taken a lot of pressure off me - he scores freely."

After England's ODI tri-series victory over Sri Lanka, Brendon McCullum opened up on his side's performances throughout the series

England captain Harry Brook, speaking at the presentation:

"We've batted really well throughout the series, apart from that first game. We've put on a fairly dominant performance with the bat and then I think, the way we finished the game off tonight, we've learned a lot from the game when Sri Lanka chased 430 - that's really good to see.

"I wasn't getting nervous [when Sri Lanka chased] - we had a clear plan and a lot of clarity with the bowlers. The ball was getting softer and I think that played a little bit of a factor. The lads have learned a hell of a lot and to finish off the game like we did there was an exceptional effort.

"We haven't had the series we'd have wanted coming here, we'd have liked to be in the final on Saturday, but unfortunately we're not. I think the lads are taking a lot of confidence from this series, albeit on the wrong side. All in all, despite the losses, it's been a good series."
