Root's second-innings dismissal was the 11th time in his last 30 dismissals that he been out lbw - of his first 71 dismissals, he was lbw just seven times.

Since 2012, England have converted 64 out of 267 fifties into hundreds (24%), whereas from 2004-2011, they converted 129 out of 365 (35%).

Steve Smith became just the third Australian to score a century and take four catches in an innings in the same Test - and the first to do so for Australia in Ashes cricket:

Nathan Lyon became the third bowler to take 50 Test wickets in 2017 after South Africa's Kagiso Rabada and Sri Lanka's Rangana Herath.

He is the first Australian off-spinner to take 50 Test wickets in a calendar year since Hugh Trumble in 1902.
