Pakistan has asked the ICC to change the result of the infamous 2006 Oval Test which they forfeited amid a ball tampering row.

Pakistan has asked the International Cricket Council (ICC) to change the result of the Oval Test they forfeited amid the infamous ball tampering row of 2006. England were awarded the win when Inzamam-ul-Haq and his team-mates refused to return to the field after umpire Daryl Hair accused them of illegally altering the ball during the final Test of the four match series. A senior Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) official, who chose not to be named, said that application had been lodged 'on the basis of the ICC dropping the ball-tampering charges against our team'. The official, who claimed that England supported Pakistan's case when it was discussed last year, said that the matter would be discussed at a meeting in May. "The matter was raised at the ICC executive committee meeting last year and has been passed to the ICC cricket committee, which will take the matter up in its meeting in May this year," the official said on Friday. "We have made the application to the ICC and hope for a favourable result at the next cricket committee meeting." Inzamam, who has since retired from international cricket, said the PCB should follow India's recent example and push for the result to be changed. India successfully lobbied to have Steve Bucknor removed from the third Test against Australia in Perth after he made a number of crucial umpiring errors during the second match of the series.
