Here is how things finished up...
Men's competition
With just two group matches to play, it was confirmed Trent Rockets would finish top of the table.
Manchester Super Giants then secured a place in the eliminator after a huge victory - both in terms of margin and significance - over SunRisers Leeds on Tuesday.
The emphatic win saw the Super Giants draw level with SunRisers on 20 points, but edge ahead of them into second in the table on net run-rate after chasing down a modest target of 128 with 33 balls to spare.
A SunRisers win would have taken them above Trent Rockets into first and secured a place in the final, but the heavy nature of the defeat left them exposed to being knocked out of third, and a spot in the eliminator.
Fourth-placed MI London - defending champions for the last three years - needed to triumph by 59 runs or more against Birmingham Phoenix on Wednesday to leapfrog SunRisers, but won by just two runs to fall short.
Women's competition
Trent Rockets also automatically qualified for Sunday's women's final after topping the table on 28 points from their eight group matches.
They secured top spot with a three-wicket win over then second-placed Southern Brave on Monday, with their opponents heading to Friday's eliminator.
There they will face SunRisers Leeds, who made sure of their qualification for the knockout stages with an impressive 41-run win over Manchester Super Giants at Emirates Old Trafford on Tuesday.
That victory lifted them above Super Giants into second place and also knocked their opponents out of the competition in the process.
