Harry Potter actor Tom Felton discussed his love of leather on willow and a booze-fillled afternoon at The Oval.
Actor remembers booze-filled afternoon at The Oval
Harry Potter star Tom Felton may be famous for waving his magic wand around but it's the sight of bats being flayed that really makes him happy.
The 22-year-old, who plays Harry Potter's nemesis Draco Malfoy in the hit film series, dropped by the
Cricket AM studio to discuss his love of the game - and how he finally managed to get one over on Daniel Radcliffe.
"I can actually give you a ball-by-ball account of the last game we played," said Felton.
"Daniel bowled a couple of overs to me and, much to his dismay, the boundary ropes were littered. I even tried a cheeky six - it didn't quite go down but I had an attempt.
"To be fair to him though, he is a strategy man. He is very good with all the fielding positions and he knows all the stats of ex-players, whereas I'm useless with that sort of thing."
Felton and Radcliffe were at The Oval last summer to see England beat Australia and regain the Ashes, and the London-born actor said it was a fantastic occasion - even if his memory it is a little scarce.
"That was a fantastic day out. I had a few cheeky ciders and then they asked us to go on Test Match Special.
"At that point I was quite loose at the tongue, so God knows what I talked about. Daniel does love to chat cricket as well, though, so he took up most of the time."
Dwindling
Felton is so keen on the game that he has constructed his own cricket net in his garden and is hoping for a few famous faces to pop along and have a slog.
"As me and my brother live together, we never really got around to curtains or carpets or the unimportant stuff, we just put up a home-made cricket net in the garden and we spend many an hour dwindling in there.
"I'm actually trying to get a few people in there. I met James Foster a couple of years ago and he was quite keen to come down for the day," said Felton, who also tried to persuade fellow
Cricket AM guest Mark Butcher to pay a visit.
"I recently ended up at a cricket bash because of the charity I'm working with and Matt Prior ran up to me very excited and said: 'We have to get a picture with you and Broady (Stuart Broad) because we take the mickey out of him and call him Malfoy.'
"I'm not the tallest guy in the world and he's gargantuan so it was an awkward picture where I came up to his belly button!"
