A resilient batting display from Nottinghamshire denied Yorkshire any chance of claiming a victory which would have seen the White Rose county top Division One on the final day at Headingley.

Resuming day four on 102-2, leading by 60, Notts batted their way to a draw thanks to a century partnership between James Taylor (96) and captain Chris Read (75).

Seam bowlers Tim Bresnan (4-112) and Steven Patterson (4-57) shared eight wickets for Yorkshire, but Notts safely navigated their way to 335-8 before declaring with a lead of 293.

Yorkshire, who shook hands after falling to 53-3 in 31 overs, sit second in the table after collecting nine points for the draw, while Notts, two places back in fourth, also acquired nine.

An unbeaten century from Steven Croft steered Lancashire away from danger and enabled the Red Rose county to claim a draw from their match with Warwickshire at Edgbaston.

Croft posted 104 not out as Lancashire, trailing by 36 in the first-innings, made their way up to 322-7 before declaring.

Warwickshire were then left with a tricky 40-over spell to negotiate in the evening session and nerves would have been jangling when they lost five wickets before closing on 86-5.

Croft continued his fine form with the bat into his bowling with three wickets, however time came to Warwickshire's rescue.

The Bears take 10 points from their home draw while Lancashire return to the north west with nine.
