Dutch giants want to buy not sell
Ajax have insisted that none of their current squad will be leaving and they want to add another defender.
Urby Emanuelson and Johnny Heitinga were being tracked by the likes of Tottenham and Atletico Madrid.
But Ajax insist neither will be departing during the January transfer window.
"We have closed that door, we cannot afford to miss those boys," said technical director Martin van Geel.
"After signing Kenneth Perez a defender is our priority, we are not a balanced squad yet. For Babel we signed Suarez, for Sneijder, Perez. Only for Stam we are looking for someone else."
Groningen
One player who Ajax have tried to get is Groningen's Bruno Silva.
Ajax have bid 2.5 million euros for the Uruguayan full-back - but Groningen do not want to sell.
"Nobody is leaving," said Groningen director Hans Nijland.
"I am proud of what we have done in the last few months and we have to maintain that and for that we need everybody."
