The Dutch giants were invited to play Al Ahly due to the club owning one of Egypt's most talented exports Ahmed 'Mido' Hossam.
Stakes were high in the clash after the Egyptian media stated that Al Ahly's defenders were not going to pull out of strong challenges against the Rotterdam side.
Ajax not surprisingly started the better of the two sides, however coach Ronald Koeman would not have been pleased with his team's inability to retain possession.
After 24 minutes Galasek headed home from a corner past the helpless El Hadary, and the visitors went two up in the second half when Mido fired home.
Gomaa pulled a goal back for the home side just two minutes later, but much to the disappointment of the home fans Al Ahly could not muster an equaliser.
