Wamberto joined the Amsterdam ArenA club from Belgian outfit Standard Liege in the summer of 1998 and, after a poor start to his Ajax career, he was in superb form this season for Ronald Koeman's side, as the team took the KPN Eredivisie title.
The Amsterdam giants will have the option to extend the left winger's deal for one more year, should the club choose to do so.
The Brazilian scored 10 goals this term in De Eredivisie and Uefa Cup competitions and he will hope to be a key part of Ajax's campaign in the Champions League next season.
However, Wamberto was also hit with disciplinary trouble this season, after receiving a four-match ban late in the campaign for lashing out at Vitesse Arnhem's Victor Sikora during a league match in late March.
