Peter Keane says history could weigh on Dublin in 'drive for five'

Kerry manager Peter Keane has noted that history is weighing on Dublin in 2019 as they bid for a fifth consecutive All-Ireland title.
The Sky Blues' bid to become the first-ever team to achieve five in a row is dominating the narrative ahead of the 2019 championship. As Jim Gavin's charges aim to go where no other side has gone before, added pressure will be piled upon the Dubs.
The Kingdom were the last football team to attempt the feat, losing to Offaly in the 1982 decider.
Keane knows that Dublin will be under increased scrutiny in 2019 as a result.
"Obviously it's history," said the Kerry supremo. "I remember as a youngster being above in Croke Park in 1982, when it didn't happen for Kerry, and that was a huge thing at the time. You talk to a lot of Kerry players from the day, and some of them will say maybe they just froze, or things didn't just run their way on the way.
"And the closer it came, the more difficult it got. I can't speak for Dublin, but it is history in the making if they are going to win five.
"It doesn't come around very often, but you don't get there in the position by being a bad team, and it's not like they got there by some lucky break. They've won four championships in a row, so to be knocking on the door for five, you've got to be a very, very good team."
In total, five teams across hurling and football have won four consecutive All-Ireland titles, but none have achieved an elusive fifth. That is now the challenge for Dublin, but it's likely that they won't enjoy the support of neutrals.
"No different to Kilkenny (hurlers) in 2010, when they lost the five. I suppose at the time, in 1982, I remember Mick O'Dwyer saying he felt like there were 31 counties against Kerry," continued Keane. "And you can probably see where people like change, but they do like a history of things too, that a team were able to do that."
