Sigerson Cup and All-Ireland club championship fixture clash leads to club vs college dilemma

The semi-finals of the Sigerson Cup and All-Ireland club championship overlapping means Kieran Molloy, Liam Silke and David Shaw face a dilemma.
Last year, Corofin's All-Ireland semi-final win over Moorefield fell on the same day as the Sigerson Cup final between UCD and NUIG. This caused a clash for both Molloy and Silke, who headed to Tullamore to help the Galway club make their way into the St Patrick's Day decider.
Silke picked up a knock against the Kildare champions, but Molloy received a Garda escort to Dublin and came on as a sub for NUIG in the third level final.
Although this situation led to calls for the calendar to be tweaked to prevent such a situation again, a similar clash is set to take place this season.
The Sigerson Cup semi-finals are set for Mallow on Saturday, February 16, with the All-Ireland club semi-finals taking place on the same day. Molloy (NUIG and Corofin), Silke (UCD and Corofin) and David Shaw (UCC and Dr Crokes) are all double-booked for the day, and are likely to miss the Sigerson ties.
UCD GAA expressed their dismay at the scheduling on Twitter: "For the past number of seasons UCD have appealed to the GAA and the CCCC to allow third level players represent their colleges, clubs and counties all on separate dates to facilitate the players of our great games."
