Padraig Harrington proudly goes green for St Patrick's Day

Padraig Harrington was happy to "go green" on the golf course as he proudly displayed his support for St Patrick's Day.

Harrington donned his favourite green shirt during the first round of the Hero Indian Open, where he fired a one-under 71 to lie six shots off the lead in New Delhi.

The three-time major champion also declared his support for Tourism Ireland's annual Global Greening initiative, which is now in its seventh year and celebrates the island of Ireland and St Patrick.

Harrington tweeted a picture of himself with the campaign's hashtag #GoGreen4PatricksDay to mark the traditional start of the tourist season in his homeland.

Some 190 iconic landmarks around the world were illuminated by green lights in recognition of the campaign, including one of the most famous golf clubs in movie history.

The Stoke Park Country Club was the scene of the epic battle between Sean Connery's James Bond and the villainous Auric Goldfinger in the 1964 film, and the clubhouse was lit up in St Patrick's Day green on Thursday.
