Thomas Bjorn is set to be unveiled as the next captain of the Europe Ryder Cup team

Sources in the USA are reporting that Thomas Bjorn of Denmark will captain the European Ryder Cup team in 2018.
An official announcement is expected on Tuesday regarding the appointment and Bjorn has long been seen as a leading contender.
The 45-year-old became the first Dane to qualify for the Ryder Cup team when he played in 1997 and he went on to represent Europe in 2002 and 2014 as well.

Europe lifted the Cup all three times that Bjorn made the team and he has also been an assistant captain on four occasions.
If his appointment is confirmed, the 15-time European Tour winner will become the fourth continental European to captain a Ryder Cup team, following Seve Ballesteros, Bernhard Langer and Jose Maria Olazabal.
After three successive European victories, the USA won back the Ryder Cup at Hazeltine earlier this year.
The 2018 renewal of one of golf's most popular events will be at Le Golf National in France.
