England completed a clean sweep of Saturday's fourballs against Thailand to ensure they advanced to Sunday's singles at the UL International Crown in Chicago.

Jodi Ewart Shadoff and Holly Clyburn eased to a 7&5 victory over Pornanong Phatlum and Porani Chutichai and Mel Reid and the fit-again Charley Hull saw off Ariya Jutanugarn and Moriya Jutanugarn 3&1.

That guaranteed England finished top of Pool B with nine points, ahead of the USA on seven after they also enjoyed a clean sweep over Japan, who finished alongside Thailand on four points.

Hull, who missed her match on Friday after dealing with a fever and her asthma, said: "I was gutted not to be out there.

"I thought it would be the best thing for me today to rest because I really didn't feel well."

The United States, who lost two tight matches against England on the opening day, finished second in Pool B with seven points after Cristie Kerr and Lexi Thompson defeated Ai Suzuki and Ayaka Watanabe of Japan 4 & 2.

Stacy Lewis and Gerina Piller beat Mika Miyazato and Haru Nomura, 3 & 1.

China won one and halved the other of their matches against Taipei, leaving Taipei provisionally top of the pool on seven points with China on six.

Korea can move to the top of the pool if they win both of their matches when they resume on Sunday morning.

With the top two teams in each group and one wild card going through to the deciding singles, two spots were still open.

The country with the most points at the end of the weekend lifts the trophy.
