Nacho Elvira gets lucky escape from a rock at Nedbank Golf Challenge

Nacho Elvira received one of the breaks of the season during a solid opening round at the Nedbank Golf Challenge.
The Spaniard carded a two-under 70 at Sun City to stay in touch with the early leaders, although needed a huge piece of fortune to end the day in red figures.
Beginning on the back nine, Elvira recovered from a double-bogey at the 11th to post four birdies on his way to reach the turn in 35 and added another at the par-four first.

Elvira - 71st on the Race to Dubai - cancelled out a birdie at the fifth with a blemish at the seventh, before saving his slice of luck for the par-five ninth.
His third shot hit the slope just off the green and seemed to be heading towards the water hazard, only for his ball to have other ideas as it cannoned off a rock.
